Jaguar XKR Supercharger reconditioning. The Eaton supercharger used on most of the Jaguar XKR range is super reliable. As such, it’s not uncommon for them to see over 100,000 trouble-free miles. But failure can occur from anything over 50,000 miles. Sadly, it’s not especially rare to see failures at this type of mileage.

If you hear noises from your Jaguar XKR supercharger, please seek urgent advice. Because if you keep running a charger that is suffering early signs of failure, catastrophic engine damage can occur if you keep driving and driving it.

One of the first signs of Jaguar XKR Supercharger failure is a shudder with a heavy rattle or clonk when turning the engine off. A whine may also be apparent when the engine running. And/or a vibration that looks a little like a misfire. Often there can be a combination of these symptoms. To isolate your charger as being the fault remove the drive belt from your Jaguar Supercharger. And then check for free play on the upper pulley. A sloppy side to side motion with a clonk at each end of the free play is a sure sign your charger has reached its “end of days”.

Paramount will carry out this check for you free of charge. And also demonstrate the difference between a failed and a new unit, so you can fully understand the difference. And what will be required to rectify the issue.

A new Jaguar supercharger will cost in the region of £4000 + fitting, and Paramount will be happy to arrange this work for you with all new jaguar parts.

Is a reconditioned supercharger the answer?

However, an alternative option is to either have your supercharger rebuild by Paramount Performance. Paramount can replace worn bearings and nose cone couplings at a significantly reduced price of a new unit. And the reconditioned Jaguar XKR Supercharger unit comes with a 6 month, or 10,000-mile warranty (whichever is first) Reconditioned XKR superchargers are available for the 4.0, 4.2 and 5.0 XKR engines.
