- There is probably no better get out of prison free card than Recovery Mode. It’s inevitable that things won’t go as planned. When you are tuning, it normally means you will not be able to start the car. It is at that point that you will use the recovery mode. This program can be used to recover the ecu data that would otherwise be lost – A lifesaver every time.
- In the event of a failed tuning attempt, you might also want to examine the log files. This can be accomplished by using the Alientech KESS 3. During the tuning process, a data log of what happened or didn’t happen is maintained. Combined with good Tech Support from Alientech, this is a very useful tool. Problems can be tracked quickly using the Log files.
- The Kess 3 tuning tool has another great feature – Service Mode tuning. There was a time when tuning many ECUs meant opening them and connecting to the board. The process was time-consuming, as well as adding a certain amount of risk. Many ecus no longer require opening with service mode. To perform tuning, connect to the terminals outside of the ECU. The process is quicker and easier.
